David Ross started his major league career playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2002, and has also played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Boston Red Sox, Atlanta Braves, and Chicago Cubs. Ross won the World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2013 and the Chicago Cubs in 2016. In April 2016 a grassroots campaign to vote the journeyman catcher into the 2016 All Star Game was formed. The movement drew comparisons to hockey player John Scott's fan selection to the 2016 NHL All Star Game. On April 21, 2016 Ross caught his first no-hitter, against the Cincinnati Reds, his former team, with starting pitcher Jake Arrieta. David Ross announced his plans to retire following the 2016 season, after playing 15 seasons in the major leagues. During Game 7 of the 2016 MLB World Series, Ross hit a home run making him the oldest player to do so in World Series history.

This Rawlings official 2016 World Series baseball was signed in blue ballpoint pen by Ross and includes a Schwartz Sports hologram and COA.
