The 1953 season marked the final year of the Browns in St. Louis, as they move east to Baltimore for the 1954 season. In keeping with baseball tradition in Baltimore the new franchise was named the Orioles, after the International League team which occupied the city for years. In 1948 Satchel Paige, a 42 year old rookie, broke into the league with the Cleveland Indians. The Browns acquired his arm in 1951, where he pitched three years before he retired in 1953. In 1965, at 59 years of age, he re-emerged with the Kansas City Athletics where he pitched three scoreless innings.

Also included with this authentic XL Mitchell & Ness Satchel Paige St. Louis Browns jersey is a St. Louis Browns cap. The jersey has some dark colored staining on the bottom right of the back of the jersey (which is visible in the photo), though it is unworn and includes tags.
