Hank Bauer played with the New York Yankees from 1948 to 1959 and Kansas
City Athletics in 1960 and 1961. He served as the manager of the
Athletics in both Kansas City (1961–62) and in Oakland (1969), as well
as of the Baltimore Orioles (1964–68), guiding the Orioles to the World
Series title in 1966, a four-game sweep over the heavily favored Los
Angeles Dodgers. This represented the first World Series title in the
franchise's history.
McGregor was selected to the American League All-Star team in 1981. He
won 20 games in 1980 and was solid in two postseasons with the Orioles
in 1979 and 1983. McGregor sent the Orioles to the World Series by
clinching the 1979 ALCS with a Game 4 shutout of the California Angels.
He also pitched a complete game victory in Pittsburgh in Game 3 of the
World Series. Despite taking the loss in Game 7, McGregor yielded only
two runs in 8 innings to Willie Stargell and the eventual champion
Pirates.
This Rawlings official American League baseball was signed in black ballpoint pen by McGregor and Bauer. This ball includes a Great Moments COA.
