Wieters was drafted fifth overall by the Baltimore Orioles in the 2007 Draft. Wieters played college baseball for Georgia Tech. He is a tall athletic hitter, standing 6 feet 5 inches tall. His ability to hit for power from both sides of the plate has drawn comparisons to Jorge Posada and Jason Varitek. Wieters is a 3-time All Star and 2-time Gold Glove winner.

This Rawlings bat was used by Matt Wieters in a game against the Toronto Blue Jays on September 29, 2016. Matt cracked the bat on a fly out off Toronto pitcher, Marcus Stroman. This bat includes an MLB hologram.
