The NFL was unable to find a buyer for the Dallas Texans, and folded the team after the 1952 season. A few months later, the NFL granted a new franchise to a Baltimore-based ownership group headed by Baltimorean Carroll Rosenbloom, and awarded it the remaining assets (including the players) of the failed Texans operation. Rosenbloom named his new team the Baltimore Colts.
This November 30, 1952 Baltimore American newspaper measures roughly 16" x 23" and features the headline, "City Gets Pro Grid Team" (referring to the Colts being awarded with the remainder of the Texans franchise) including the story by John Steadman. The paper has some rough edges, as one would expect. This is a neat piece from the very early stages of Baltimore Colts' history.
