Oriole Park at Camden Yards opened on April 6, 1992 with the Orioles hosting the Cleveland Indians. The great success of Camden Yards which followed sparked a trend in the construction of more traditional, fan-friendly ballparks in downtown locations across the U.S. Indeed, by the 2012 season, all but two teams (the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics) played in baseball-only parks. The first run scored at Camden Yards occurred when Chris Hoiles hit a ground rule double that brought in Sam Horn. The Orioles went on to win the game 2-0 on Rick Sutcliffe's shutout.

This lot features plans for Orioles Park at Camden Yards, prepared by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The plans are dated June 1987 and while there are similarities in the plans and what we know today, you can really see the changes that were made between 1987 and when construction actually took place. This is a really neat piece of Orioles and Baltimore history!
