Nicknamed "The Greatest", Ali was involved in several historic boxing matches. Notable among these were the first Liston fight, three with rival Joe Frazier, and one with George Foreman, where he regained titles he had been stripped of seven years earlier. Ali remains the only three-time lineal World Heavyweight Champion; he won the title in 1964, 1974, and 1978.
This original 11"x14" silver gelatin photo features Ali training in Zaire prior to his famous "Rumble in the Jungle" fight with George Foreman. The photo is signed by photographer, Sonia Katchian and the mat was signed by Ali.
Also included with this photo is a piece of string that Katchian picked up off of the apron of the ring the day before the fight as Ali's team was reviewing the ring. The string is a piece of the actual rope from the ring that was removed as Ali's trainer, Angelo Dundee, had tightened the ropes proving that Ali's "rope-a-dope" technique was a pre-planned strategy.
