Riggins was drafted in the first round of the 1971 NFL Draft by the New York Jets and as a rookie he became the first Jet to lead the team in both rushing and receiving. Riggins was named the Jets' MVP (now known as the Martin Award) in 1972 and 1975. After his stint with the Jets, Riggins signed with the Redskins as a free agent in 1976. "The Diesel" continued his Hall of Fame career until 1985, amassing 13,442 total yards and 116 total touchdowns. He was also named Super Bowl MVP in 1982.
