Kosar played for the Cleveland Browns from 1985 to 1993 earning 2 Pro Bowl appearances in 1987 and again in 1989. Kosar finished his career with the Dallas Cowboys and the Miami Dolphins. With the Cowboys, he won Super Bowl XXVIII as Troy Aikman's backup, beating the Buffalo Bills, on January 30, 1994.
